Advice:Ronald "Winky" Wright (W48-L3-D0) looked jaded in his last win in November, when a majority decision winner over "Sugar" Shane Mosley (W40-L4-D0) and should find the power of tonight's opponent Felix "Tito" Trinidad (W42-L1-D0) way too much.
Since stepping up in weight from his September 99 brawl with Oscar De La Hoya (W37-L4-D0) in which he beat the Mexican "Superstar" on the scorecards, Trinidad has stopped all bar one of his opponents. Along the way he took the scalps of Fernando "Ferocious" Vargas (W25-L2-D0) stopping him in the 12th, William Joppy (W34-L4-D1) in the 5th and Ricardo Mayorga (W27-L5-D1) in the eighth.
The only blemish on his near-faultless record was the 12th round stoppage he suffered at the hands of the one-and-only Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins (W46-L2-D1) in September 2001. Trinidad took eight months to recover from the brutal beating he took from Hopkins that night, but looks to have come back better than ever. He completely took Mayorga apart in his last fight and ended it at his own free will.
"The Winkmaster" having said that is a VERY worthy champion. He has successfully defended his IBF belt six times with wins over the likes of Bronco McCart (W47-L6-D0) & two epic fights against "Sugar" Shane Mosley. But over-all his level of opponents has not been of that which Trinidad has faced.
The last time Wright faced anyone with better than average ability was when he lost a majority decision to the same Fernando Vargas that Trinidad dispatched in the 12th. He also showed his fragility when he lost sixteen months earlier to Harry "The Terminator" Simon (W23-L0-D0). Giving Simon his due he did retire unbeaten, but his level of ability is just way below what is required for the World scene.
Betting with our "Hearts" we would go for "Winky" in this one. A true warrior in the sport of boxing if there ever was one, and a true gentleman outside of it.but we don't make bucks wagering on our personal "Likes" & "Dislikes".
Wisdom rules the roost in this one and we take Trinidad to "Sadly" end the losing run of one of the true nice guys of the sport. Take the 1.550 available on a Trinidad victory at SportingbetAUS.his brutal knockout power, even at this weight, will see him through via a late round stoppage or a scorecards victory.
