Essex born Allister Carter already has the form in the bag this season over Alan McManus having scalped the Glaswiegan 9-4 in the second round of the Travis Perkins UK Open, and he is confidently expected to do the double in the 1st round of the Malta Cup tomorrow afternoon.
Carter has had an OK season thus far. He got to the quarterfinals of the UK Open. He dropped out of the China Open qualifying in his first match losing 5-2 to Dave Harold, but this form is unreliable due to several significant factors.
He beat five players to get to the final of the Masters qualification where he was beaten by Stuart Bingham 6-3 for the final wild-card spot.
McManus also had a good Masters Tournament, beating Stephen Hendry 6-4 in the 2nd round proper, and Mark Williams 6-4 in the next round. Eventually losing 6-2 to winner John Higgins.
Hendry was a good scalp for McManus to take as the former world number one has reclaimed his place at the head of the world rankings. But beating Mark Williams amounts to NOTHING, the former multi-champion is in dire form and wins very rarely these days.
