Advice:Belarussian Lightweight sensation Yuri Romanov (W17-L1-D0) will batter "The Earl Of Luton" Graham Earl (W23-L1-D0) in tonight's lightweight fight at The Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, England.
Earl has been MORE than fortunate with the decisions in his recent fights. He was in all sorts of trouble against Kevin "Bulldog" Bennett (W17-L5-D0) even hitting the canvas in round five, before stopping the Brummie in the 9th frame.
His June 2004 fight with Bobby Vanzie (W26-L5-D1) was a farce. We had Vanzie a 117-113 winner, but Earl controversially won the fight 115-114 !!! Vanzie even had Earl down in round four, but still lost!! How we ask ourselves ?
His previous fight with Vanzie in July 2003 was also surrounded in controversy. Vanzie clearly won the fight AGAIN but AGAIN lost on the scoresheets.
Earl has compiled a record that at first glance looks impressive, but dig deeper and you will find a different story.
Romanov, as his geographical location suggests is tough. The Minsk born fighter has also been in there with Bobby Vanzie, in January 2003. He though gave Vanzie a complete lesson in the art of the "Sweet Science", knocking him down a total of five times before the ref Micky Vann called a halt to the onslaught in the eighth.
This fight was originally due to go off in September but the British and Commonwealth champion Earl was forced to withdraw with a rib injury.
Now back to full fitness Earl can at least stretch this one into the latter stages of the brawl, but under NO circumstances will he win.
Romanov is destined for bigger and better things. Watch out Graham Earl!!
Have a hefty play on Romanov making it 15 straight victories at the expense of Earl. Best odds across the boards is the 1.833 on offer at either Bet & Win, Blue Square or Stan James.
